According to Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers, Jackson was shot twice, which led to his fatal injuries. The incident took place around 4 a.m. at the Yazoo Estates Apartment Complex.
Police Chief Terry Gann reported that Jackson was in a car with two other individuals when they arrived at the complex. As they entered, they were ambushed when someone from behind one of the apartment buildings opened fire, unloading more than a dozen shots. Chief Gann described the shooting as a targeted attack, stating, “Everything is pointing to this being an ambush.”
The two other passengers in the car were unharmed, but Jackson, the driver, suffered fatal wounds. The police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting and are actively searching for the suspects responsible. Chief Gann emphasized that solving the case quickly is a top priority for the department.
This shooting remains under investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the Yazoo City Police Department.
