Anthony Calderon Obituary, Death – The Fresno Police have identified a man who was fatally shot in a shooting incident early Thursday morning in central Fresno. The victim, 22-year-old Anthony Calderon, was one of two men targeted in the attack outside an apartment complex at the intersection of Pleasant and Fedora Avenues shortly after 2 a.m.
According to investigators, Calderon, along with a 28-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, were approached by another group of men. For reasons that remain unclear, a member of the group opened fire on them. Fresno Police Lieutenant Paul Cervantes reported that a total of 54 rounds were fired during the incident.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered Calderon suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite efforts to aid him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The 28-year-old man was quickly taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition, while the 23-year-old man involved in the shooting was unharmed.
At this time, authorities have not released any information regarding the suspects involved in the shooting. This marks the 28th homicide of the year in Fresno, a slight decrease compared to 32 homicides at this point in 2023.
Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are urging anyone with information to contact the Fresno Police Department. They hope that any additional leads could help uncover the motive behind the shooting and lead to the identification of those responsible.
