Ashley Nolan, Thomas Joseph Nolan Obituary, Death – The individual has been confirmed as Ashley Nolan, aged 41, the spouse of Thomas Joseph Nolan. The two adolescents are presumed to be their daughters. Following what authorities are describing as a “domestic disturbance” on the south side of Indianapolis on Monday evening, two adults have lost their lives, and two children have sustained injuries.
Both the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) and the Marion County Coroner’s Office have verified that the alleged shooter is Thomas Joseph Nolan, 43, a former IMPD Reserve Officer who retired in May 2024. His death has been classified as an apparent suicide, and it is believed that he fatally shot his wife, Ashley Nolan.
The tragic event occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Watersonway Circle, located northeast of the intersection of West Edgewood Avenue and Bluff Road. As officers were en route to the scene, they reported hearing multiple gunshots.
“Officers discovered a deceased female and a deceased male in the backyard of the residence. This incident appears to be a domestic situation that escalated into a murder-suicide,” stated IMPD Officer Tommy Thompson. Thompson noted that the officers acted swiftly and located two teenagers with gunshot wounds, who are thought to be the couple’s daughters.
“The bravery exhibited by the officers who entered the residence to rescue those teenagers is commendable. That is what we should focus on,” Thompson remarked. One of the teenagers has been transported to a hospital in stable condition, while the other remains in serious condition.
“Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased adults and the injured children. This is an incredibly tragic situation for them,” Thompson added.
