Benjamin Samad Obituary, Death – Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run incident near Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth that left a pedestrian dead. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) has identified a potential suspect in connection with the crash. The collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening near the 4300 block of Congress Avenue. According to PBSO, a Ford F-250 traveling northbound struck 43-year-old Benjamin Samad, who reportedly ran into the truck’s path while crossing Congress Avenue. The impact left Samad lying in the outside lane of the road. Tragically, emergency responders from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene.
Following the crash, the driver of the Ford fled the scene, driving through the Palm Beach State College campus before heading eastbound on Lake Worth Road. A witness who saw the incident followed the truck and captured video footage of the vehicle as it sped away.
Investigators later located the suspect vehicle parked at an apartment complex in Lake Worth. PBSO has identified a possible suspect, though their name has not been released.
