Bradley Michael Link Obituary, Death – The Lake County deputy killed in a Friday night ambush has been identified as Master Deputy Sheriff Bradley Michael Link, 28. Deputy Link died after he and two colleagues responded to a disturbance call in northeast Lake County.
The incident began when deputies were dispatched to a disturbance reported at a residence on Brookside Drive. However, they were soon redirected to a nearby house. Upon arrival, they discovered that the back door of the home had been forcibly opened and heard a commotion inside. As they entered, they were met with a barrage of gunfire. Deputy Link was struck by bullets and became trapped inside the house, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Another deputy sustained a shoulder injury but is reported to be in stable condition. The third deputy was injured in the groin and stomach, underwent surgery, and remains in critical condition.
Inside the home, authorities found two deceased individuals and a third person who was transported to the hospital with an unknown condition. Sheriff Grinnell noted that the cause of death for the individuals inside the house—whether it was a result of a potential murder-suicide or from the deputies’ return fire—remains unclear. Further details regarding the nature of the disturbance within the house are also still under investigation.
