Carl Dean Jordan Obituary, Death – Two individuals lost their lives in a collision in Collins. According to Collins Police Chief Joey Ponder, the incident occurred shortly after midnight on Tuesday, August 13, on Highway 49 in proximity to the Collins Industrial Park. Chief Ponder reported that a vehicle struck a Wayne-Sanderson Farms 18-wheeler on the highway, resulting in the fatalities of both the car’s driver and the truck’s driver due to their injuries.
Covington County Coroner Chris DaQuila has identified the 18-wheeler’s driver as Carl Dean Jordan, 71, from Laurel. He noted that they are currently awaiting DNA test results to confirm the identity of the car’s driver.
The investigation into the cause of the collision remains ongoing.
