Carlos Arriaga Obituary, Death – A 23-year-old individual was fatally shot in Indio early on Saturday, leading to the arrest of a suspect several hours later. Officers from the Indio Police Department responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 2:30 a.m. in the vicinity of a residence located in the 81-600 block of Jennifer Court. Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound in front of a house in that area.
The victim, later identified by the Riverside County coroner’s office as Carlos Arriaga, a resident of Indio, was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where he succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.
Investigators identified the alleged shooter as Ruben Molina, a 21-year-old from Indio. Around noon on Saturday, detectives located and apprehended Molina in the 44-000 block of Avenue 44.
Molina has been charged with felony murder and is currently being held at the county jail in Indio on a $1 million bail, with an initial court appearance scheduled for Wednesday morning.
Authorities have not disclosed any information regarding a potential motive for the shooting.
