Chrishawn Perkins Obituary, Death – A man from Kanawha County was shot and killed by his girlfriend early Thursday morning following a violent altercation, according to investigators. The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Chrishawn Perkins of Charleston, as stated in a news release from the Charleston Police Department. The police responded to a report of a shooting at a residence located in the 700 block of Grace Avenue around 2:45 a.m. Investigators revealed that Perkins and his girlfriend had been invited to the home by an acquaintance, where a dispute ensued.
The news release indicated that the argument escalated significantly, leading Perkins to physically assault his girlfriend. At one point, he allegedly brandished a firearm and threatened to kill her multiple times. Although Perkins was persuaded to relinquish the weapon, he later resumed his aggressive behavior, attacking his girlfriend and subsequently engaging in a physical confrontation with the acquaintance. In response, the girlfriend retrieved the firearm and discharged a single shot, resulting in Perkins’ death.
Officers reported that the woman was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the altercation, where she is currently in stable condition. The case has been referred to Kanawha County prosecutors for further examination, but no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
