Clayton Hulme Obituary, Death – A tragic accident involving a semi-truck on Interstate 70 resulted in the death of one individual on Wednesday, as reported by the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).
According to official records, Clayton Hulme, a 27-year-old resident of Troy, MO, was driving on I-70 Wednesday morning when he veered across the centerline near the 161-mile marker, colliding with the towed unit of a semi-truck. Following the impact, he skidded to the left and ultimately came to a halt on the shoulder of the road.
Reports indicate that the vehicle was found overturned. Hulme was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. This incident marks the second fatal collision involving a semi-truck on I-70 within the week, following a separate accident on Monday that resulted in the deaths of two women.
Several other motorists who were on I-70 during the time of Wednesday’s crash sought refuge at Crane’s Country Store, located a few miles from the accident site. Employees, including Avis Endres, noted that anxious drivers entered the store, sharing their accounts of the event.
“One individual mentioned that the truck was completely crushed and the engine had been dislodged due to the severity of the impact,” Endres recounted. “It was quite shocking to hear that.”
She further remarked that many drivers appeared unsettled after a week marked by multiple accidents.
“Particularly in light of the recent crash in Columbia just days ago, people seemed to be saying, ‘This is unbelievable,'” Endres stated. “Two devastating incidents within three days.”
Motorists also reported experiencing significant delays following Wednesday’s crash, with traffic remaining at a standstill for much of the morning.
