On Wednesday, officers from the Rochester Police Department were called to the intersection of South Winton Road and Hillside Avenue around 4 p.m. following reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle. Upon arrival, they confirmed that a woman had been struck by an SUV while attempting to cross the street.
The victim has been identified as 76-year-old Cornelia Neer, a resident of Rochester. Police determined that she was hit by an SUV that was making a right turn from Hillside Avenue onto South Winton Road. The driver of the SUV was a 17-year-old girl.
Authorities have stated that the young driver showed no signs of impairment at the time of the crash. After an initial investigation, law enforcement officials have found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing. As a result, no citations have been issued in connection with the accident.
