Dana Burks Obituary, Death – A suspect has been taken into custody following the fatal shooting of his stepfather in Mount Oliver on Saturday. According to Allegheny County police, officers responded to a shooting call on the 100 block of Amanda Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a man dead at the scene. The victim was identified as 49-year-old Dana Burks by the Allegheny County medical examiner. Police reported that Burks had been shot multiple times, with six rounds fired in total. It appeared that the shooting occurred at the doorway of his home.
A photojournalist from Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 observed several police vehicles and officers investigating the area.
On Sunday morning, police updated that 21-year-old Rasheed Horne had turned himself in and was charged with homicide in connection with the shooting. According to a criminal complaint, Horne had a confrontation with Burks, his stepfather, on Friday afternoon, which resulted in Horne being hospitalized. Horne allegedly returned the next day and shot Burks in retaliation.
Horne is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail awaiting his arraignment. The investigation is being led by Allegheny County police. They are asking anyone with information about the case to call 1-833-ALL-TIPS, with the option to remain anonymous.
