Darnell Christian Obituary, Death – A fatal shooting in Richmond’s East End on Friday evening has led to the arrest of a Henrico County man, who is now facing murder charges.
At approximately 6:11 p.m. on March 28, Richmond Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1500 block of Coalter Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 63-year-old Darnell Christian lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators quickly gathered video footage from the area, which provided key details about a potential suspect, the vehicle involved, and the direction in which it had fled. Using this information, officers from the Henrico County Police Division, along with Virginia State Police troopers, conducted a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle.
The driver, identified as 56-year-old Tommy Moore of Henrico County, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Authorities took Moore into custody and charged him with Christian’s murder. He is also facing an additional charge for the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
