David Foster Kaufman Obituary, Death News – An 82-year-old man lost his life in a three-vehicle accident that occurred on Main Street in Northfield on Tuesday. State police have identified the deceased as David Foster Kaufman from Watertown. According to troopers, a driver operating a Toyota Rav 4 travelled eastbound on Main Street at approximately 10:50 a.m.
Kaufman was proceeding south on Route 254, while another driver in a Volkswagen Toas Se was heading north. Troopers reported that the driver of the Rav 4 attempted to navigate the intersection of Main Street and Route 254, resulting in Kaufman colliding with the Rav 4 in the southbound lane of Route 254.
The impact caused Kaufman’s vehicle to veer into the northbound lane, where it was subsequently struck head-on by the Toas Se, according to state police. Kaufman was transported to Waterbury Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Toas Se sustained minor injuries and was also taken to Waterbury Hospital. As of Wednesday morning, the investigation into the crash was ongoing.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to reach out to state police.
