Devereaux Christopher Johnson Obituary, Death – Authorities have reported that a man in Michigan was shot and killed following a contentious dispute with his neighbour. On Saturday morning, police responded to a shooting incident that occurred after a brief confrontation between the two neighbours, as reported by WXYZ. The prosecutor’s office indicated that 47-year-old Devereaux Christopher Johnson initiated an argument with 35-year-old Nathan Morris while the latter was walking with his family.
The conflict reportedly began when Morris’s daughter touched a mulch pile located in Johnson’s yard. Although Morris attempted to calm the situation, Johnson allegedly discharged multiple rounds. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, they discovered Morris lying in the street with a gunshot wound. He was subsequently transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Canton Police Chief Chad Baugh described the incident as a “senseless act of violence toward the victim,” extending condolences to the victim’s family and to neighbors who may have witnessed the tragic occurrence.
Marcus Carlson, the lead pastor of St. Michael Lutheran Church, shared with WKBD that Morris was a man of strong faith.
“He was very devoted to his family, deeply loved his children, and much of his faith was focused on what was best for them. Many of his actions were centered around his kids,” Carlson stated.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Johnson remains in police custody.
