Devin Jamar Johnson Obituary, Death – Authorities in Pleasant Grove, Alabama, are investigating a homicide that resulted in the death of 21-year-old Montease Yvonne Booker. The shooting occurred in the early morning hours of March 31, and police have taken a suspect into custody.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Booker, a Birmingham resident, was fatally shot around 5:21 a.m. in the 1300 block of 7th Place. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered 31-year-old Devin Jamar Johnson of Pleasant Grove standing in the front yard. A firearm was also located on the roof of a nearby car.
Inside the residence, police found Booker, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators gathered statements from Johnson and several other witnesses, leading to his immediate arrest.
At this time, authorities have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting. Johnson remains in custody at the Pleasant Grove City Jail while he awaits formal charges. The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office in Bessemer is expected to handle the case moving forward.
