Devon Anderson Obituary, Death – A vigil was held on Friday night to honour the memory of Devon Anderson, a 38-year-old man from South Fulton who was shot and killed by an off-duty police officer. Family members and friends convened in the parking lot of Harold’s Chicken, located on Old National Highway, to pay tribute to his life. Anderson’s family is advocating for further charges to be brought against the officer involved.
According to investigators, the shooting occurred around 1 a.m. on Monday following a dispute between a group of individuals and the off-duty officer. The officer, identified as Melvin Potter, is a member of the Atlanta police force. Authorities have reported that Potter was arrested and charged with obstruction, while Anderson’s family is calling for a murder charge against him.
Potter has since been released from the police department. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is currently overseeing the investigation, which remains ongoing.
