Donald Marquise Obituary, Death – A victim has been confirmed in a deadly multi-vehicle accident that occurred in Lyon County last month. On July 24, at approximately 8:20 a.m., Nevada State Police were dispatched to a collision at the intersection of U.S. 50 Alternate and U.S. 95 Alternate. The incident involved four vehicles: a 2016 Toyota Rav4, a 1996 Freightliner, a 2024 Ford Edge, and a 2017 Ram 2500, as reported by the Nevada State Police.
The operator of the Ford Edge, identified as 71-year-old Donald Marquise from Madison, Alabama, was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Ram was hospitalized with minor injuries, while two juveniles in the Ram experienced non-life-threatening injuries.
Neither the driver of the Toyota Rav4 nor the driver of the Freightliner reported any injuries. According to the Nevada State Police, the accident occurred when the Rav4 attempted to overtake the Freightliner by driving south in the northbound lane. In an effort to avoid a head-on collision, the Ram veered to the right, but the left side of the Rav4 collided with the left side of the Ram, causing it to spin out. Simultaneously, the right side of the Rav4 struck the left side of the trailer being towed by the Freightliner.
The Ram then crossed onto the right dirt shoulder of northbound U.S. 50 Alternate before returning to the roadway, spinning as it crossed the northbound lane. The front of the Ram impacted the left front of the Ford Edge.
The Edge came to rest on its wheels after rolling down an embankment, while the Ram overturned onto its right side. Both the Rav4 and the Freightliner came to a controlled stop on the right gravel shoulder of southbound U.S. 50 Alternate.
The investigation into this incident is being conducted by the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Northern Command West Traffic Homicide Unit.
