Edward D. Ocheskey Obituary, Death – A fatal crash occurred on the night of September 26, 2024, in Franklin County at the intersection of Highway B and County Road 304. The incident involved a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck and a Union Pacific train, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The victim, 51-year-old Edward D. Ocheskey from Washington, Missouri, was driving north on Highway B when he attempted to turn left onto railroad tracks. His vehicle became stuck on the tracks, and a westbound Union Pacific train, operated by 49-year-old Velroy Ruch from Omaha, Nebraska, collided with the rear of the truck.
Ocheskey was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel at 9:47 p.m. His body was later transported to the St. Louis County Morgue. Authorities confirmed that the train’s safety features, including the crossbar, lights, and bell, were functioning properly at the time of the accident.
The Union Pacific Police Department and additional agencies assisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol in the investigation.
