Edward Fitzpatrick Obituary, Death – A 73-year-old man, Edward Fitzpatrick, from Neosho Falls, Kansas, was identified as the victim of a fatal accident that occurred Monday afternoon in Sumner County. Fitzpatrick was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado on U.S. Highway 81 when the vehicle unexpectedly veered off the road, causing the truck to crash into the north ditch and eventually land upside down in the Ninnescah River.
The accident took place around 2 p.m. on the highway. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the exact reason for Fitzpatrick’s vehicle crossing the center line and entering the ditch remains unclear. As the truck plunged into the river, it overturned and became submerged in the water.
Bystanders and Sumner County Sheriff’s Office deputies quickly responded to the scene. They were able to pull Fitzpatrick from the water and bring him to safety. Emergency medical services then transported him to a Wichita hospital. Unfortunately, Fitzpatrick passed away shortly before 3:30 p.m. from the injuries sustained in the crash.
Troopers confirmed that Fitzpatrick was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident. Despite this, the exact cause for his vehicle leaving the roadway remains under investigation, as no immediate explanations have been found.
The tragic event is under review, and authorities continue to investigate why Fitzpatrick’s vehicle left the road.
