Elizabeth Crane Obituary, Death – A tragic accident in Truckee on Saturday evening claimed the life of a young woman and left another pedestrian critically injured. Authorities have identified the deceased as 25-year-old Elizabeth Mariley Crane from West Lafayette, Indiana.
The incident occurred on Donner Pass Road near the Tahoe Donner Boat Launch when a van struck two pedestrians. Truckee Police officers responded to reports of the collision and found Crane had died at the scene. The second victim, an unidentified man, suffered critical injuries.
Emergency responders transported the injured man to Tahoe Forest Hospital before he was airlifted to Renown Hospital in Reno due to the severity of his injuries.
The driver of the van remained at the scene and was later arrested on charges of vehicular manslaughter. Authorities booked the suspect into the Nevada County Jail but have not yet released their identity.
According to the Truckee Police Department, drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
