Freiver Yanez-Salas Obituary, Death – The Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) has disclosed the identity of the man who was fatally shot while seated in a car outside a liquor store in Mount Rainier on September 23. The victim has been named as 22-year-old Freiver Yanez-Salas from Washington, D.C.
As of the latest updates, homicide detectives are actively investigating the case to determine both the suspect involved and the motive behind the shooting.
On Monday evening, around 7:30 p.m., local police received reports of a shooting on the 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue. Upon their arrival, they discovered Yanez-Salas inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
In addition to Yanez-Salas, two other victims—a man and a woman—were also shot during the incident. They were promptly transported to a local hospital, where they are being treated for critical injuries.
The incident has stirred concern and frustration among local residents and patrons of the store, highlighting the rising violence in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area. Local resident Stephon Jackson expressed his dismay about the increasing violence, indicating that real change must come from the community itself. “The police frequently patrol this area pretty much. It’s really the people that have to change, you know, it’s really nothing we can do about it,” Jackson remarked to DC News Now.
In response to the shooting, PGPD has announced a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to an arrest and indictment in this case. They urge anyone with relevant information to contact the department at 301-516-2512.
