Harold Woodrow Thomas Jr Obituary, Death – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the individual who accidentally shot and fatally wounded himself while disposing of his trash on Tuesday morning. Harold Woodrow Thomas Jr. succumbed to his injuries after being shot shortly before 6 a.m. at the Stratton Place Apartments, located in the 12400 block of Starcrest Drive, in proximity to Jones Maltsberger Road.
As reported by law enforcement, Thomas was en route to a dumpster, carrying both his refuse and a firearm. It was at this moment that he reportedly lost his footing on the slick, muddy incline, causing the gun he was holding to fall and discharge unintentionally.
Authorities indicated that he sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. Thomas was transported to a local hospital, where he ultimately passed away. The San Antonio Police Department later located the firearm near the discarded trash bags.
Emergency responders from the San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department, and EMS were all present at the scene.
Investigators concluded that the incident was a tragic accident.
