Heather DuBey Obituary, Death – Heather DuBey, a 49-year-old woman from Boyne City, has been identified as the victim of a fatal car accident in Antrim County on January 20, according to the Michigan State Police.
DuBey was remembered in her obituary as a graduate of Lake City High School, a lifelong Girl Scouts member, and someone with a passion for creative pursuits such as photography, wood carving, painting, crochet, and more. She was also an avid outdoors enthusiast who enjoyed activities like birdwatching, snowshoeing, skiing, swimming, camping, and boating.
The crash occurred on U.S. 131 when DuBey was driving a 2022 Chrysler Voyager northbound. Preliminary investigations suggest that her vehicle lost control and crossed the center line, colliding with a southbound 2012 GMC Acadia driven by a 22-year-old woman from Mancelona.
The 22-year-old driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey for treatment.
Authorities stated that alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
