The deadly accident occurred just after 6 a.m. near Enrique M. Parkway and Monterey Street. Investigators reported that Idrogo was attempting to cross the road on his bicycle when he was hit by a pickup truck. Instead of stopping to assist, the driver of the truck fled the scene, leaving the injured bicyclist lying in the roadway.
Moments later, a second vehicle struck Idrogo while he was on the ground. Unlike the first driver, the second motorist remained at the scene and fully cooperated with law enforcement. Sadly, paramedics pronounced Idrogo dead at the location of the crash.
Authorities are now working to track down the pickup truck driver who fled. Once identified, that individual will face charges for Collision Involving Death, a serious offense under Texas law.
This tragic incident highlights the dangers faced by bicyclists and pedestrians on city streets, as well as the devastating consequences of hit-and-run accidents. Law enforcement urges anyone with information regarding the pickup truck or its driver to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
