Details of the Incident
The fatal collision occurred on March 24, 2025, at approximately 4:57 a.m. Authorities reported that a silver 2011 Ford Fusion was stopped in the center lane of northbound I-495, just south of the exit for US Route 13. Around the same time, a gray 2019 Jeep Comanche was traveling in the same lane, heading toward the stationary vehicle.
Sequence of Events
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Ford was disabled in the center lane, and its driver was standing in front of the vehicle. As the Jeep approached, it collided with the rear of the Ford, pushing the car forward into the driver. The impact then forced the Ford into the guardrail along the right shoulder. Following the collision, the Jeep came to a stop in the left lane of the highway.
Victim Identified
The driver of the Ford, identified as 35-year-old Issa Sheriff of Darby, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the Jeep, a 34-year-old woman from Newark, was unharmed in the incident.

Following the crash, authorities closed I-495 northbound for approximately 4.5 hours while investigators examined the scene and cleared debris from the roadway.
