Around 8:30 p.m., police responded to an emergency call about a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers encountered James Collier, who allegedly emerged from a home wielding a large machete. Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, Collier refused to comply and approached officers, prompting them to open fire.
Collier was struck at least once and transported to the hospital, where he later died.

Two people were injured in the stabbing, though their identities and relationship to Collier remain undisclosed. They are expected to recover.
