James Donisch Obituary, Death – Early Monday morning, around 6:30 a.m., emergency crews were called to the scene of a fatal car accident near the I-55 interchange on Arsenal Road in Channahon Township. The Braidwood Fire Department was the first to notify Elwood Fire about the crash, prompting a rapid response from first responders.
When authorities arrived, they found a severely damaged vehicle involved in a collision with a semi-truck. One individual was transported from the crash site to St. Joseph Medical Center for emergency medical treatment. Sadly, the victim did not survive and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Will County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as 38-year-old James Donisch. According to preliminary investigations, Donisch lost control of his vehicle while driving near the I-55 interchange. Reports indicate that his car crossed into oncoming traffic and was struck by a semi-truck traveling from the southbound I-55 exit ramp.
The driver of the semi-truck, a 36-year-old man from Romeoville, fortunately escaped the crash without any injuries, officials confirmed.
Illinois State Police are currently leading the investigation into the crash.
