James Douglas Pittman Obituary, Death – Virginia State Police have identified the individual who lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Thursday. The victim, James Douglas Pittman, aged 55 and a resident of Ashland, was pronounced dead at the crash site in the early hours of August 1st along Interstate 64, approximately 1.25 miles west of Route 696 in Alleghany County.
According to authorities, Pittman was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle at a high speed on Interstate 64 near mile marker 20.4. After overtaking another vehicle, he veered off the right side of the road and collided with the guardrail, resulting in both him and his passenger being ejected from the motorcycle.
The passenger was airlifted to a medical facility to receive urgent care for critical injuries.
