James Etta Bell Obituary, Death – A 67-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Lake Charles, and police have arrested a suspect in connection with the incident.
Authorities identified the victim as James Etta Bell, who was fatally struck at the intersection of Nelson Road and Imperial Boulevard on Monday evening. The driver fled the scene without stopping to assist or identify themselves.
When officers arrived, they found Bell lying in the road, where she was pronounced dead. Investigators later identified a suspect vehicle and located it at a home on Chris Lane. On Friday, police arrested 44-year-old Brandice L. Watson of Lake Charles on a charge of hit-and-run driving resulting in death or serious bodily injury.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Lake Charles Police Department’s Traffic Division at 337-491-1311. Authorities have also requested Watson’s booking photo from the Calcasieu Correctional Center, which will be added to the report once available.
