James Sheridan Obituary, Death – Authorities in Pompano Beach, Florida, are investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving an 80-year-old man who allegedly shot and killed two people before taking his own life. The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) responded to a welfare check at a residence in the Leisureville retirement community on Wednesday evening.
Discovery of the Incident
Deputies arrived at the home, located near the 300 block of South Golf Boulevard, around 7 p.m. after receiving a request for a welfare check. The concern arose due to an overflowing mailbox and two vehicles parked in the driveway, suggesting the residents had not left for some time.
Upon entering the home, officers discovered three individuals deceased, all appearing to have suffered gunshot wounds. On Thursday, officials identified the shooter as James Sheridan, 80. Investigators believe he fatally shot a man and a woman before turning the gun on himself.
Victims and Community Reactions
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the two victims, but neighbors noted that a family had been living in the home. According to residents, the occupants were quiet and largely kept to themselves.
Lauren Goltz, a neighbor in the community, described the household as distant. “They were very quiet people. We saw them coming and going, just a wave. Nobody really knew them,” she said. “They lived here renting for about a year, but they were like strangers.”
Ongoing Investigation
The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear. Authorities continue to investigate what may have led to the tragic incident, and additional details may emerge as the case unfolds.
