Jamie Gallicchio Obituary, Death – A snowmobile accident at Sun Valley Resort in Stafford on Wednesday claimed the life of a 48-year-old Ellington woman, state police reported.
The crash occurred around 3:23 p.m. at the lakeside resort located at 51 Old Springfield Road. According to state police, Jamie Gallicchio, the snowmobile operator, was ejected from the vehicle during the incident.
Gallicchio sustained critical injuries and was initially transported by ambulance to Johnson Memorial Hospital. She was later airlifted via Life Star helicopter to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at 6:52 p.m.
Authorities notified her next of kin following the tragic accident.
A passenger on the snowmobile, a 45-year-old man from West Springfield, Massachusetts, suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment at the scene.
State police stated that, as of now, the passenger was the only witness to the crash.
