Javier Mireles Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal multi-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon at Everhart Road and Cedar Pass Road. According to the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office, 40-year-old Javier Mireles was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Corpus Christi Police Department reported that officers were dispatched to the crash site at approximately 3:31 p.m. on February 12, 2025, following reports of a major collision with injuries. Upon arrival, investigators from the Traffic Unit began analyzing the circumstances surrounding the crash.
According to police, Mireles was driving a green SUV northbound in the southbound lanes of Everhart Road near the 7200 block when his vehicle struck a black pickup truck traveling in the correct direction in the right lane. The impact caused further collisions, as the green SUV then crashed into a blue SUV traveling southbound. The force of the collision between those two vehicles caused them to strike a maroon SUV that was also traveling in the same direction.
Emergency medical personnel responded quickly, transporting three children from the green SUV and four children from the blue SUV to a local hospital. Fortunately, none of the children’s injuries were deemed life-threatening. Additionally, the female driver of the maroon SUV sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Officials confirmed that the adult female driver of the blue SUV and the male driver of the black pickup truck were not injured in the crash.
As part of their investigation, authorities shut down the intersection for at least three hours to examine the wreckage and collect evidence. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet determined why Mireles was driving in the wrong direction.
