Jeffrey Howard Obituary, Death – A 62-year-old individual from Ohio has been confirmed as the operator of a tractor-trailer that veered off the roadway and ignited on I-64 at Sandstone Mountain. As reported by the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched following a notification regarding a tractor-trailer accident on the eastbound escape ramp of I-64 in the Sandstone Mountain vicinity at 11:48 AM on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
The report indicated that the driver, identified as Jeffrey Howard, 62, from Dublin, Ohio, entered the escape ramp prior to the collision. The vehicle subsequently caught fire, resulting in Mr Howard’s death at the scene.
It was noted that Mr Howard was travelling alone and did not collide with any other vehicles.
The incident is currently under investigation.
