Jenice Woods, Marcia Pochette Obituary, Death – A pregnant woman and her mother have tragically died after a suspect, attempting to flee from police, collided with their vehicle in Florida. On Tuesday, July 30, Neoni Copeland, 23, was driving a Kia Stinger at high speeds in Boynton Beach when he crashed into a blue Toyota Corolla around 8:10 p.m. local time. The Toyota Corolla was making a turn when the crash occurred. Following the collision, Copeland reportedly fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by responding officers.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla, 27-year-old Jenice Woods, and her mother, 57-year-old Marcia Pochette, were rushed to a hospital where they were pronounced dead. Woods was reportedly two months pregnant at the time of the accident. Her father, Junel Pochette, expressed his grief, stating, “Two and a half lives were taken away from me: my daughter, my wife, my future grandchild.” He added that the family had been eagerly anticipating the arrival of the new baby.
Neighbor Lorna Reynolds described the incident as a significant loss for the community, highlighting the heartbreak of losing Woods, who was preparing for motherhood, and her mother, who was looking forward to becoming a grandmother.
The Boynton Beach Police Department reported that Copeland had been fleeing from West Palm Beach police officers before the crash. The West Palm Beach Police Department has initiated an internal affairs investigation into the incident and placed seven officers on administrative leave. The investigation will determine if the officers violated pursuit policies while chasing Copeland.
West Palm Beach Police Chief Frank Adderley emphasized the need for a thorough investigation, stating, “While there are many questions and few answers at this time, we need to let the facts lead us to the outcome of the investigation.” He assured that the department is cooperating fully with the Boynton Beach Police Department.
Copeland is facing charges of resisting arrest and leaving the scene of a fatal crash. Further charges may be added as the investigation progresses. He is currently held without bail in Palm Beach County Jail. It is unclear whether he has legal representation to comment on the charges.
