Jerry Shafer Obituary, Death – Authorities have released the names of individuals involved in a deadly two-vehicle accident that occurred near Lennox on Tuesday. Preliminary details reveal that the crash took place around 3:30 p.m. on July 30. The incident involved a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 68-year-old Jerry Wallenstein from Sioux Falls, and a Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by 60-year-old Jerry Shafer from Homeworth, Ohio.
Wallenstein was driving eastbound on US 18 in Lincoln County, approximately five miles south of Lennox. He was positioned in the left turning lane, preparing to turn north onto 466th Avenue when the collision occurred. Shafer was traveling westbound on US 18 when the Silverado struck his motorcycle, causing Shafer to be ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wallenstein and a passenger in his vehicle were uninjured in the crash. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident, but all information released so far is preliminary.
