John McAndrew, Charles Person Obituary, Death – Three individuals who tragically lost their lives in a crash in Washington County on Monday morning have been identified. The fatal incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. on Iowa Highway 1, in the 1700 block, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The crash occurred when a vehicle traveling southbound attempted to overtake a snowplow. While trying to pass, the vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a Nissan traveling in the opposite direction. The crash resulted in the deaths of three individuals from Fairfield: 70-year-old John McAndrew, 54-year-old Charles Person, and 41-year-old Amanda Person.
In addition to the fatalities, a 17-year-old passenger was injured in the crash. The injured teen was taken to University of Iowa Health Care for medical treatment.
The Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
