Jose Guadalupe Rojas Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified the man who lost his life in a violent single-vehicle crash in Lucerne Valley last week. Jose Guadalupe Rojas, a 29-year-old resident of Apple Valley, was described by his family as a hardworking and devoted father.
The Tragic Accident
The fatal crash occurred around 3:35 p.m. on February 13 along Highway 18, southeast of Old Woman Springs Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office.
Rojas was driving a 2007 Honda Accord at an unknown speed when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle. CHP officials stated that, for reasons still under investigation, the driver made an unsafe turn to the left, crossing through the southbound lanes of Highway 18 and into an area of natural vegetation.
The vehicle continued its uncontrolled movement until it struck a raised dirt mound, which caused it to roll several times across the highway’s southbound lanes. Tragically, Rojas was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle.
Efforts to Save Him
A CHP officer was the first to arrive at the scene, accompanied by good Samaritans, including a paramedic and two nurses. They attempted to render aid to the severely injured driver, but despite their efforts, Rojas succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Family Devastated
Rojas’ sister, Yahaira Vargas, shared details about her brother’s life and the impact of his passing. According to her, Rojas was on his way home from work when the accident occurred. She emphasized that he was a loving and dedicated father who worked tirelessly to provide for his two sons.
“He was a family man coming home to his two boys,” Vargas said in a statement accompanying an online fundraiser set up to assist with funeral expenses. “He was a devoted and very present father who worked long hours to give them a good life.”
Beyond his role as a father, Rojas was remembered for his joyful spirit and willingness to help others. “Anyone who ever met him will tell you that he was always happy and joking,” Vargas continued. “This has been a tragic loss to everyone who knew him. He will forever be remembered as a hardworking family man, great brother, son, and friend. He always had everyone’s best interest at heart and was quick to help anyone in need.”
Fundraiser to Support the Family
To help cover funeral expenses, Rojas’ loved ones organized a community fundraiser. They planned to sell tacos, quesabirria, and shrimp empanadas to raise funds. The event was scheduled to take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 21145 Multnomah Road in Apple Valley.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash. The CHP’s Victorville Office is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information to contact Officer M. Santillan at (760) 241-1186.
The tragic loss of Jose Guadalupe Rojas has deeply affected his family, friends, and the Apple Valley community. As his loved ones grieve, they are finding ways to honor his memory and support his young children during this difficult time.
