The accident occurred around 2 p.m. as Hernandez was driving east in the scenic mountain area. According to police, he attempted to pass a pickup truck when, at the same time, the pickup driver also moved into the passing lane to overtake another vehicle. This sudden maneuver put the two vehicles on a collision course.
In an effort to avoid a crash, Hernandez swerved sharply, causing him to lose control. His vehicle veered off the road and overturned. Tragically, Hernandez was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities reported that the driver of the pickup truck did not remain at the crash site. Investigators are actively looking into the circumstances surrounding the accident, including efforts to identify and locate the pickup driver.
