The fatal collision occurred on Wednesday afternoon. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), officers responded to a report of a pedestrian on the freeway at approximately 3:43 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found Silva on the right shoulder of the highway. CHP officers immediately began administering life-saving measures in an attempt to stabilize him.
Los Angeles County firefighters were also dispatched to the scene. Despite efforts to revive Silva, he was pronounced dead at the location.
