Kyrin Dotson Obituary, Death – Early this morning, at just after 4:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop B began investigating a fatal single-vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on LA 23, north of Seatrain Road in Plaquemines Parish. The incident resulted in the death of 19-year-old Kyrin Dotson from Baton Rouge.
According to preliminary findings, a 2004 Toyota Tundra was traveling northbound in the left lane of LA 23 when Dotson attempted to cross the northbound lanes from east to west. Dotson entered the path of the oncoming Toyota, which struck him in the left lane.
Dotson was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. Both the driver and Dotson had routine toxicology tests conducted as part of the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation. Authorities emphasize the importance of vigilance from both pedestrians and drivers on roadways. Pedestrian accidents can often be prevented by adhering to basic safety practices. Pedestrians are advised to wear light-colored or reflective clothing and to avoid walking in poorly lit areas. They should assume that drivers may not see them, especially at night, and should cross streets at well-lit, designated crosswalks while facing oncoming traffic. Following these guidelines can significantly improve pedestrian safety.
