Lamar T. Jenkins Obituary, Death – Authorities are investigating a deadly crash that occurred in Eufaula early in the morning on February 14. The incident resulted in the death of 44-year-old Lamar T. Jenkins.
According to officials, the Eufaula Police Department attempted a traffic stop around 4:19 a.m. after spotting a vehicle speeding recklessly along South Eufaula Avenue, heading south into Barbour County. However, the driver failed to stop, prompting officers to pursue the vehicle.
As the vehicle neared a rest area, the driver abruptly changed direction, now heading northbound on the roadway. At this point, the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office took over the pursuit.
Jenkins, the driver of the fleeing vehicle, was reportedly traveling at approximately 70 miles per hour when he lost control near a Walmart. His vehicle veered off the road and struck a light pole before crashing. The impact ejected Jenkins from the vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced Jenkins dead. The Alabama State Patrol is now conducting a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
