Laquita Charisse Dunn, Anthony Jackson Obituary, Death – The identities of two individuals who lost their lives in domestic shootings on Thursday in Birmingham’s West End Manor neighbourhood have been disclosed. Additionally, two other individuals sustained life-threatening injuries from the incidents. At approximately 4:45 p.m., law enforcement officials responded to reports of multiple gunshot victims at a residence located on the 1600 block of Dennison Avenue, as per the Birmingham Police Department.
Upon their arrival, officers entered the premises and found the deceased body of a woman who had been shot. The coroner identified her on Friday as 49-year-old Laquita Charisse Dunn. Officers subsequently learned that a man had also been shot at the same location. He was transported to Princeton Hospital with life-threatening injuries and later transferred to UAB Hospital.
Initially, police reported that he had succumbed to his injuries in the hospital; however, they later corrected this information, confirming that he is still alive. At the crime scene, officers discovered that the shooter may have discharged additional rounds at a residence on 17th Place SW, located just a few blocks from the initial site.
Law enforcement quickly proceeded to that location, where they found both a man and a woman who had been shot inside. The man, identified by the coroner as 76-year-old Anthony Jackson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman sustained life-threatening injuries.
Investigators have indicated that all four victims were shot by the same male suspect. According to police, the two men who were shot are the suspect’s father and grandfather, while both women are family friends.
Authorities have stated that the incident originated from a domestic dispute and are treating both locations as part of a single event. At approximately 9:15 p.m., the suspect was apprehended in the Five Points West Business District by officers from the Birmingham Police Department, Jefferson County deputies, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
Reports indicate that he was “very agitated” and making threats during his arrest. He has been booked into the Birmingham City Jail under a 48-hour felony extension for capital murder. Currently, police are withholding the suspect’s identity.
Investigations are ongoing.
