The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, near the intersection of Route 60/83 and Taylor Lake Court. Deputies from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene following reports of a collision. Upon arrival, they discovered a Toyota SUV that had crashed into a guardrail.
The driver, later confirmed to be Marcos-Guzman, was found inside the vehicle unconscious and not breathing. Emergency responders immediately transported him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in an effort to save his life. Despite the medical team’s best efforts, Marcos-Guzman was pronounced dead shortly after arrival in the emergency department.
Initial findings from the crash investigation revealed that for reasons not immediately clear, the Toyota had crossed the center line of the road. It then veered into the opposite lane of traffic before colliding with a guardrail. Notably, there were no other vehicles involved in the incident, and the damage to the SUV was described as minor.
