Laurie Kimberly Cantu Obituary, Death – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of one of the two victims killed in a tragic trailer fire on Edison Highway. The deceased individual has been identified as 54-year-old Laurie Kimberly Cantu, a resident of Bakersfield.
The incident occurred on December 8, 2024, around 3:00 a.m., when the Kern County Fire Department received an emergency call regarding a trailer engulfed in flames in the 12000 block of Edison Highway. Firefighters quickly responded to the scene and managed to extinguish the blaze. However, upon further investigation, they discovered two bodies inside the burned structure.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) was alerted to the situation, and homicide detectives were called to take over the investigation due to the suspicious nature of the deaths. The identity of the second victim has not yet been revealed, as authorities are waiting to notify the next of kin before releasing their name.
