The Louisiana State Police would like to remind all drivers that changes in perception can lead to changes in driving behavior. The consumption of alcohol, prescription medications, and other substances can significantly impair driving capabilities.
These substances may affect visual perception, distort the sense of time and space, hinder the fine motor skills necessary for vehicle operation, and slow reaction times. Motorists are strongly advised to plan ahead and appoint a designated sober driver.
Failure to do so can result in fatal outcomes.
