Lonnie Nelson Obituary, Death – The Gallipolis Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a single-vehicle accident that took place in Meigs County. The incident occurred on August 6 at approximately 12:10 p.m. on State Route 681, near milepost 4. As reported, the accident involved two individuals in one vehicle.
According to the report, a 2016 Indian Chief motorcycle, operated by Lonnie Nelson, aged 65, from Nelsonville, Ohio, was travelling westbound on SR 681 when he lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn and slide down an embankment. Both the driver and the passenger were ejected from the motorcycle before it left the roadway.
Nelson was subsequently transported to St. Marys Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the West Virginia Medical Examiner, as stated in the report. The passenger, Loretta Richards, aged 48, from Glouster, Ohio, was airlifted to St. Marys Regional Hospital due to injuries sustained in the accident.
It is noteworthy that neither occupant was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
