Louis Michael Hill Obituary, Death – The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) has identified the suspect killed in an officer-involved shooting in Florence on Tuesday as 26-year-old Louis Michael Hill of Rogersville.
According to authorities, the incident began when Lauderdale County dispatch received a report of a bank robbery in Florence. Responding officers quickly located Hill’s vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. However, Hill refused to pull over, leading police on a pursuit until his car became disabled.
As officers closed in, Hill allegedly attempted to hijack another vehicle. During this confrontation, he brandished a firearm and opened fire on law enforcement. Officers returned fire, fatally striking Hill at the scene.
During the exchange of gunfire, a Florence police officer was shot and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. Additionally, Grace McClusky, a firefighter who was inside the vehicle Hill tried to steal, was also struck by gunfire and taken to North Alabama Medical Center. Fortunately, both the officer and McClusky are expected to recover.
Authorities confirmed that Hill had no significant prior criminal record. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
