Mason L. Wood Obituary, Death News – A fatal single-vehicle crash near Jasper last week has been identified as claiming the life of a local man, according to Alabama State Troopers.
Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency in west Alabama, confirmed Friday that the victim was 34-year-old Mason L. Wood. Authorities determined that Wood was driving a 2019 Ford F-150 when the crash occurred last Friday afternoon on Bennett Road near Zelles Road in Walker County, roughly eight miles north of Jasper.
According to the report, the truck veered off the road, collided with a tree, and caught fire upon impact. Due to the severity of the crash and the fire, Wood’s body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for identification, where experts confirmed his identity.
The fatal accident happened around 4 p.m. on Friday, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
