Matanous H. Bakhchich Obituary, Death News – Authorities have identified the man who died in an unusual single-car incident in Ventura, though key aspects of the case remain under investigation.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that 42-year-old Matanous H. Bakhchich, a Ventura resident, was the victim. While his name has been released, officials have not disclosed the exact cause or manner of death, citing the ongoing investigation.
Bakhchich’s death occurred on March 8 under circumstances that remain unclear. According to the Ventura Police Department, he was struck by a car driven by his significant other while she was traveling down an alley. However, the exact sequence of events leading to the fatal incident is still being examined.
Surveillance footage reviewed by police provided partial insight but failed to clarify crucial details. The video reportedly captured Bakhchich rolling down the alley but did not clearly show whether he had been inside the vehicle, clinging to it, or if he had fallen out. Due to the angle of the footage, his precise position in relation to the car at the time of the collision remains uncertain.
Authorities responded in large numbers to the scene, with approximately a dozen police vehicles arriving and drawing a crowd of onlookers. Despite the unusual nature of the incident, no arrests have been made as of Wednesday.
Ventura Police Department spokesperson Cpl. David Curtis stated that additional details are being withheld as the case is still under active investigation.
