Michael Knasel Obituary, Death – A fatal crash on State Road 37 in Perry County prompted an extensive investigation by local authorities. The Perry County Sheriff’s Office reported that multiple 911 calls came in just before 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday, alerting dispatchers to a serious two-vehicle collision near Alamo Road.
According to preliminary findings, 45-year-old Michael Knasel of Tell City was driving a 1997 GMC pickup truck southbound when, for reasons still unknown, his vehicle crossed the center line. The pickup collided with an oncoming semi-truck and trailer, resulting in a deadly impact.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Knasel was pronounced dead at the scene. Local deputies, along with fire and medical personnel, worked for several hours to manage the scene. The roadway remained closed until 3:45 p.m. as authorities investigated the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Indiana State Police were later called in to conduct a detailed crash reconstruction to determine the cause of the accident. Officials have not yet released further details on what may have led to the collision.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
